It’s official! DJI has just launched its latest consumer action camera, the DJI Osmo Action 3.
This adventure camera packs a punch, with several new features, upgrades, and an all-new smart color temperature sensor.

The DJI Osmo Action 3 camera was designed to be a rugged, durable action camera that can handle any extreme activities, as well as day-to-day and travel use. Compared to its predecessor, the Action 2 camera (which is a lightweight camera that athletes can clip on and go), the Action 3 has a traditional action camera feel.

The Action 3 camera might be one of the most innovative cameras DJI has put on the market—it’s extremely cold-resistant, has an exceptionally long battery life, and is waterproof up to 16 meters (approximately 48-50 ft). This camera is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand, weighing only 145g. It has a magnetic bottom for easy mounting and comes with a vertical-mount case so you can get the best angle for your video. It has an ultra-wide lens that captures 155° FOV in 4K, and three stability augmentation modes.

The protective frame is set for both horizontal and vertical shooting, offering versatility when mounting the camera to one of its many accessories, like the helmet-chin mount which allows users to capture the most immersive first-person view video for their audiences. Users can secure the camera for 16:9 recording, or use the accessory frame that adds a second set of mounts for 9:16 vertical recording. Compared to the Action 2, the Osmo Action 3's camera specs are the same; it uses a 1/1.7 sensor that can support 12 MP photos. The Action 3 does feature an all-new color temperature sensor, which can adjust the white balance of images easily, allowing users to capture crisp, clean images.

One of the best features about the Action 3 is that it was truly designed for durability—both touchscreens and camera lens are designed with hydrophobic gorilla glass. The screens and lens are scratch and impact-resistant, making the camera capable of surviving impact from a 4.5 ft. drop. The screens repel water easily, allowing surfers, divers, and swimmers to use the camera during any water-related activity. It also has a total of three microphones incorporated into the camera, capturing great-quality surround sound. This also supports voice control, which enables users to start, stop, and pause recording hands-free.

Users in need of a cold temperature resistant camera will be happy to learn that the Osmo Action 3 can operate between -20°C and 45°C (-4°F to 113° F). The batteries also support nearly 160 minutes of recording time each; with a 30-watt charger, users can charge a single battery up to 80% in just 18 minutes. DJI has also launched an Adventure Combo, which features the storage battery case that supports up to 3 batteries and two micro SD cards. Campers or wildland explorers will be happy to know that they can use the storage battery case as a portable power bank, which can power cellphones and other small electronic devices.

The Adventure Combo also comes with a 1.5 m extension rod—while only 360° cameras offer the “invisible” selfie-stick, DJI has made it so that this action camera can automatically detect and “erase” the extension rod when using the DJI MIMO app’s AI.

All in all, the new Osmo Action 3 is worthy of wanderers, travel creators, athletes, and action lovers.
