Insta360 has launched a brand new gadget for drone action—the Insta360 Sphere. This camera takes drone imagery to a whole new level, bringing the excitement of 360° action to aerial videography without the need for an FPV drone. Specially designed for consumer favorites, the DJI Air 2 and Air 2S drones, it’s a new accessory that will allow content creators, pros, and rookies to create incredible videos.

Made of two, rugged metal hemispheres that wrap around the drone, the Sphere features two cameras that capture footage simultaneously, sans drone. While many users have concerns about flight durability, the hermetic clamps prevent it from falling off your drone midflight as long as they have been securely fastened around the drone and are being used with compatible drone models. The Insta360 Sphere has FlowState Stabilization, meaning you can film dynamic footage with unlimited movement, turns, and angles and retain smooth videos. Some of the AI features of the Sphere include Horizontal Flip, Tiny Planet, Sky Transition, Deep Track, FPV Roll, and Dolly Zoom. The Sphere also comes with lens protectors to keep the cameras scratch-free and a landing pad that makes it easy to launch and land safely. According to Insta360, the Sphere has about a 48-minute run time, which is standard compared to most other cameras.

As far as camera quality, the photo resolution is 6080x3040 (2:1), while the video resolution 5760x2880@30/ 25/ 24fps, 3840x1920@50/ 30fps, and 3008x1504@100fps. This is overall good quality and will provide great video in 5.7K, which is standard for Insta360 cameras.

Consider that the Sphere is not waterproof, so it’s not recommended to fly in rainy or wet conditions or around bodies of water, and it’s not recommended to fly at an altitude of more than 1000 meters.

Like all of Insta360’s gadgets, the Sphere is also compatible with the entire Insta360 software suite, which is PC and iOS/Android friendly, as well as Adobe Premier Pro. Users can leverage the Insta360’s AI editing features to create remarkably smooth, creative content easily.
