DJI has introduced the DJI RS 5, expanding its RS lineup with a lightweight commercial stabilizer designed to support modern production workflows. Built for creators, cinematographers, and small production teams, the RS 5 focuses on refined control, efficient setup, and flexibility across a wide range of shooting scenarios.
One of the key updates to the RS 5 is support for the RS Enhanced Intelligent Tracking Module. When paired with the module, users can frame and track subjects directly from the gimbal’s touchscreen, helping maintain consistent composition during dynamic shots. When tracking a person, the system offers a range of up to 10 meters and can reacquire the subject if they temporarily leave the frame.
Balancing and control have also been refined. Fine-tuning knobs on each axis allow precise micro-adjustments during setup, while Teflon™-enhanced interlayers contribute to smoother, more controlled balancing, even with heavier camera and lens combinations. The new electronic briefcase handle adds an integrated joystick and button controls, enabling single-handed operation for low-angle shots and mobile movement without sacrificing precision.
Despite its compact form factor, the RS 5 supports payloads up to 3 kilograms (6.6 pounds), making it compatible with a wide range of mainstream mirrorless camera and lens setups. Native vertical shooting allows creators to switch orientations quickly without rebalancing, supporting efficient production for both horizontal and vertical content formats. Second-generation automated axis locks further streamline transitions between shooting, transport, and storage.
Power performance has improved as well. The RS 5 supports a one-hour full charge and delivers extended runtime compared to the previous generation. For longer shooting days, the optional high-capacity battery grip can extend standby time, helping crews stay productive without frequent interruptions.
